Cocoa Almonds Recipes

Whether you’re looking for a snack to enjoy while on a weight loss diet, a low-carb diet, a heart-healthy diet or just looking for a delicious, satisfying snack, cocoa almonds are an excellent choice. Almonds are one of the healthiest nuts. When dusted with cocoa they are transformed into a decadent treat that looks and tastes indulgent.
Sometimes it’s difficult to find time to prepare healthy snacks. This recipe for cocoa almonds can be made quickly and enjoyed immensely. To prepare this amazing treat you’ll need:
2 cups of raw, unsalted almonds
2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
a pinch of salt
1 tsp. honey
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Step 1: mix cocoa powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a medium-sized bowl.
Step 2: Measure 2 cups of almonds into a medium-sized bowl. Set aside.
Step 3: In a microwave-safe bowl combine honey and vanilla and heat for 10 seconds.
Step 4: Immediately pour the liquid over almonds and mix until each almond is coated.
Step 5: Quickly add the cocoa mixture and toss gently to coat almonds.
Cocoa roasted almonds can be prepared in much the same way as the cocoa dusted almonds mentioned above. Roasting the almonds intensifies their earthy nuttiness. To roast them, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spread the raw almonds on a baking tray and roast them for 6 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven, shake well and return to the oven for an additional 6 minutes. Remove from the oven, cool about 3 minutes then place the almonds in a medium-sized bowl and toss with honey. Add cocoa powder and salt and toss to coat the almonds. Pour the coated almonds back onto the baking sheet, spread them out, and let them cool completely before storing them.
Not only are cocoa covered almonds a great snack food, but they are also an impressive addition to a party table and an excellent edible gift idea. You can get creative with standard recipes by mixing different spices with cocoa.
Cayenne or chile powder will add a bit of heat. Cardamon and anise are also good spice choices for cocoa covered almonds.
