Walnuts are among the five healthiest nuts and most popular nuts. Walnuts in shell have a shelf life of up to 6 months when stored properly. Bags of raw walnuts can be stored for up to a year. With their extreme versatility and amazing health benefits, this is an excellent nut to keep on hand at all times.
Making walnut flour at home is a simple task. You can use the flour to prepare bread, cakes, cookies, muffins, and other baked goods to enjoy while on a weight loss or keto diet. Even if you’re not on a special diet, using this flour is a great way to boost the nutritional value of baked goods. To make walnut flour, put the walnuts in a blender and pulse them until they reach a fine, powdery consistency.
There are various ways to make walnut butter. The most basic method is to put raw walnuts and a pinch of salt in a food processor and blend until the walnuts release their oil and reach a smooth, buttery texture. This process can take up to 20 minutes so you’ll need to monitor the heat of the food processor and possibly stop it to allow the machine to cool down before continuing to process the nuts.
For a different method and flavor, you can toast the nuts before putting them in the food processor. To toast the nuts, spread them on a baking sheet and place them in a preheated 350-degree oven for about 7 minutes. Check often during toasting to prevent burning them. When toasted, put the nuts in the food processor and process until creamy. Once it reaches that stage, you can add maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt and process just long enough to combine the ingredients.
